Nationals RF Bryce Harper Elected to N.L. All Star Team

Washington Nationals Right Fielder, Bryce Harper, was elected to the National League All Star team along with fellow teammates Max Scherzer and Sean Doolittle. Harper will start in Right Field, and he will join Nick Markakis and Matt Kemp in the starting outfield for the game. Additionally, Harper will participate in the annual Home Run Derby, competing with 7 other sluggers. Moreover, Harper received a grand total of 2,335,733 votes, according to the MLB Communications twitter account.

Through the first half of the season, Harper finished with a batting average of .214, stood at the plate 327 times, smashed 23 home runs, drove in 54 RBI’s, stole 6 bases, had an OPS of .833, collected 70 hits, walked to first base 78 times, and lastly, he was brought down due to strikes for a grand total of 102 times. Overall, Harper has produced greatly for the Nats, however, he must take himself out of the hitting slump that he is currently in, and Harper needs to put more balls in play, rather than striking out.

Harper will participate in the Home Run Derby on July 16th, and the All-Star Game on July 17th.
