Nationals lose to Reds 9-3: Recap 5/31/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the Cincinnati Reds Friday evening at Great American Ballpark. The Nats record currently stands at 24-33. The Reds move to 27-30.

Patrick Corbin pitched a very strong two innings for Washington. Corbin struggled pitching allowing eleven hits and two strikeouts. Javy Guerra allowed four hits and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the second inning, first baseman Matt Adams grounded out to second, Juan Soto scored.

In addition, left-fielder Juan Soto homered to the center (409 feet).

Lastly, at the top of the fifth, shortstop Trea Turner singled to center, Victor Robles scored, catcher Yan Gomes to third.

With a loss to the Reds, the Nationals play game two of the series tomorrow afternoon at 4:05pm at Great American Ballpark. Pitching for the Nationals will be Erick Fedde.
