Nationals lose to Phillies 4-3: Recap 7/14/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park in regular season action. The Nationals record currently stands at 49-43. The Phillies move to 48-45.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong six innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed six runs and two strikeouts while pitching. Tanner Rainey allowed zero hits and three strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the fourth inning, Matt Adams singled to right, third baseman Anthony Rendon scored.

At the top of the seventh inning, pitch hitter Howie Kendrick singled to left, Suzuki scored, Victor Robles to second. Also, in the seventh, shortstop Trea Turner singled to shallow right, Robles scored, Kendrick to third.

With a loss to the Phillies, the Nationals head to Baltimore for the Beltway Series with the Orioles starting Tuesday at 7:05pm.
