Nationals lose to Mets 6-4: Recap 5/23/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the New York Mets Thursday afternoon at Citi Field. The Nats record currently stands at 19-31. The Mets move to 24-25.

Stephen Strasburg pitched a very strong seven innings for Washington. Strasburg allowed five hits and five strikeouts. Wander Suero allowed 2 hits and 3 strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the sixth inning, second baseman Brian Dozier reached on a bunt single to first, Soto scored on throwing error by second baseman Hechavarria, Dozier out stretching at third.

Also, in the top of the eighth, catcher Yan Gomes doubled to left center, Juan Soto scored, Robles to third. Lastly, in the top of the eighth, Parra singled to right center, Robles scored and Gomes scored.

With a loss to the Mets, the Nationals play the Miami Marlins tomorrow night at Nationals Park at 7:05pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Kyle McGowin.
