Nationals lose to Cubs 6-5: Recap 5/19/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the Chicago Cubs Sunday evening on Sunday Night Baseball at Nationals Park. The Nats record currently stands at 19-27. The Cubs move to 27-17.

Jeremy Hellickson pitched three innings for Washington. Hellickson allowed four hits and one strikeout. Kyle McGowin allowed three hits and three strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, second baseman Brian Dozier grounded out to second, scoring Kurt Suzuki from third.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Anthony Rendon homered to right-center (398 feet), Turner and Eaton scored.

In addition, at the end of the seventh inning, pinch hitter Howie Kendrick homered to left-center (398 feet).

With a loss to the Cubs, the Nationals head to New York to play a four-game series against the Mets starting tomorrow night at 7:05pm at Citi Field. Pitching for the Nationals will be Patrick Corbin.
