Nationals lose to Brewers 15-14; recap 8/17/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday evening at Nationals Park. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 67-66. The Brewers move to 64-60.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong four innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed eight hits and five strikeouts. Tanner Rainey allowed zero hits and four strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the bottom of the third, left fielder Juan Soto homered to left (373 feet), Rendon scored.

Also, in the bottom of the fourth, Eaton homered to right (379 feet), Suzuki scored and Parra scored.

At the bottom of the sixth, Victor Robles doubled to shallow left, Suzuki scored. Trea Turner homered to left (389 feet), Robles scored and Kendrick scored.

In the bottom of the seventh, Howie Kendrick homered to center ( 430 feet), center fielder Robles scored.

During the bottom of the ninth, center fielder Robles hit sacrifice fly to center, Cabrera scored.

Finally, at the bottom of the fourteenth, Adam Eaton scored on throwing error by second baseman Hiura, Soto safe at second on throwing error by second baseman Hiura.

With a loss over the Nationals, the Nationals play the final game of the series at 1:35pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Erick Fedde.
