Nationals Lose Heartbreaker in Extras To The Brewers 5-4

The Washington Nationals looked to even up the series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday evening as Jeremy Hellickson took the mound.

The inning got off to a good start, with the Nationals jumping on Brewers starter Junior Guerra early with a Ryan Zimmerman double and a three run home run by Adam Eaton to take a 4-0 lead. Unfortunately, Milwaukee would battle back with a groundout by Erik Thames, a two run home run by Christian Yelich, and a single from Lorenzo Cain to tie the game and send it into extras.

Ryan Zimmerman got on board with a broken bat single in the tenth inning and Trea Turner ran in Zimmerman’s stead. Turner was picked off to end the inning. Milwaukee loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom half of the inning before Tyler Saladino ended the game with a sac fly to give the Nationals a 5-4 loss as they lose the series.

Nationals will attempt to avoid a sweep as Tanner Roark takes the mound at 2:10 PM
