Nationals get Daniel Hudson, Roenis Elias, and Hunter Strickland for bullpen help on trade deadline day

The Washington Nationals have added three new bullpen arms before the 4 p.m. trade deadline. The Nationals acquired right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for RHP Kyle Johnston. Hudson's 2019 stats include a 6-3 record and a 3.00 ERA.

Additionally, the Nationals acquired left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias and RHP Hunter Strickland from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for RHP Elvis Alvarado and LHPs Aaron Fletcher and Taylor Guilbeau. Elias's 2019 stats include a 4-2 record and a 4.40 ERA. Strickland, whom many remember from the infamous brawl against Bryce Harper in San Francisco three years ago, has an 0-1 record and an 8.10 ERA and is returning from the 60-day injured list for a right lat strain.

To make room for these new acquisitions, Javy Guerra and Michael Blazek have been designated for assignment. A third roster move will likely be announced before Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks so that all three may be added to the roster.
