Nationals Fall To Cubs In Extras 6-4

It was another routine night of heartbreak for the Washington Nationals, this time it was at the hands of the Chicago Cubs.

Cubs jumped on the board first with a double from Anthony Rizzo and a single from Ben Zobrist to take a 2-0 lead. The Nationals responded with a double from Anthony Rendon and a two run home run by Mark Reynolds to take a 3-2 lead after four innings. In the fifth, the Cubs tied it on a sac fly from Zobrist, but the Nationals took the lead right back on a single from Trea Turner. Chicago tied the game once again in the eighth inning on a fielder’s choice by Wilson Contreras. The game went to extra innings tied at 4-4 and as we’ve seen countless times this season, the Nationals crumbled immediately. This time the undoing was a double by David Bote and a single from Taylor Davis as the Nationals fell 6-4 to the Cubs in ten innings for their third consecutive loss.

Nationals will attempt to even up the series tomorrow as Joe Ross makes his return to the big leagues at 7:05 PM
