Nationals fall to Braves in 10-1 loss; recap: 9/14/19

The Washington Nationals fell to the Atlanta Braves 10-1 today, giving the Nationals an 81-66 record. The Braves have now clinched a postseason spot, which is most likely going to be another division championship. Austin Voth had a decent start with four hits, one run, two walks, and six strikeouts. Unfortunately, the rest of the bullpen (Wander Suero, Fernando Rodney, and Erick Fedde) did not provide the necessary relief. In addition, Rodney had accidentally struck Charlie Culberson in the face during an attempted bunt, which led to Culberson being taken off the field while bleeding. The Nationals’ only run was an Anthony Rendon RBI double in the first inning.

Tomorrow, Anibal Sanchez is looking to prevent a sweep against Max Fried. First pitch is scheduled for 1:38 p.m. ET.
