Nationals begin Beltway Series with an 8-1 victory over Orioles

The Washington Nationals kicked off this season's Beltway Series with a 8-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Despite Austin Voth's shaky beginning, the right-hander made a good impression with six innings, four hits, one run, one walk, and four strikeouts. Although the Orioles' only run in this game was a solo home run from Hanser Alberto, Voth and the bullpen (Tanner Rainey and Javy Guerra) remained strong in their respective outings.

The Nationals' runs began with a Matt Adams solo home run in the second inning. That home run flew all the way to Eutaw Street and even struck the top of the warehouse, earning Matt Adams a special spot on Eutaw Street. In the third, Anthony Rendon's RBI double scored Trea Turner, and in the sixth, Juan Soto hit a solo home run and Brian Dozier scored on a balk while Victor Robles was batting. In the seventh, Rendon hit another RBI double to score Adam Eaton, and in the eighth, Robles' RBI single scored Dozier. Finally, in the ninth, Soto's RBI single scored Eaton, and Adams hit an RBI single to score Rendon.

Tomorrow, Erick Fedde is expected to be called up to start against Aaron Brooks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
