Nationals beat White Sox 12-1: Recap 6/10/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Chicago White Sox Monday evening at Guaranteed Rate field in regular season action. The Nats’ record currently stands at 31-35. The White Sox drop to 31-34.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong six innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed four hits and one strikeout while on the mound. Tony Sipp allowed no hits and one strikeout in relief for Washington.

In the top of the second inning, catcher Kurt Suzuki hit a sacrifice fly to center. Also in the third inning, right fielder Adam Eaton singled to right center, scoring Trea Turner.

In the top of the fifth inning, shortstop Trea Turner homered to left (425 feet). In the top of the seventh inning, Trea Turner doubled to left, scoring Victor Robles.

In the top of the eighth inning, second baseman Brian Dozier doubled to left, and designated hitter Howie Kendrick scored. In addition, center fielder Victor Robles hit a RBI single to center.

In the top of the ninth inning, left fielder Juan Soto singled to right, scoring Adam Eaton. Howie Kendrick singled to right, and third baseman Anthony Rendon scored.

Lastly in the top of the ninth, Kurt Suzuki hit a grand slam to left-center (385 feet).

With a win over the White Sox, the Nationals play game two of the series tonight at 8:10 p.m. ET. Pitching for the Nationals will be Patrick Corbin.
