Nationals beat Dodgers 6-0: Recap 5/9/19

The Washington Nationals held off the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday evening in regular season action. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 15-22. The Dodgers drops to 22-15.

Patrick Corbin pitched a very strong seven innings for Washington. He allowed three hits and eight strikeouts. Kyle Barraclough allowed two hits in relief.

Offensively the long ball ruled for Washington, belting out a three-run home run to left by Howie Kendrick in the first inning, in which Adam Eaton and Anthony Rendon scored.

In the top of the eighth, Howie Kendrick singled to left, Robles scored, and third baseman Anthony Rendon moved to third. Also in that inning, catcher Yan Gomes grounded into fielder’s choice to second, Rendon scored, Kendrick was out at second.

In the top of the ninth inning, Anthony Rendon grounded into fielder’s choice to third, Adrian Sanchez scored, Victor Robles was out at second, and Adam Eaton advanced to third.

With a win against the Dodgers, the Nats play game two of the four-game series at 10:10 pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Anibal Sanchez.
