Nationals beat Reds 4-1: Recap 6/2/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday afternoon at Great American Ballpark in regular season action. The Nats record currently stands at 26-33. The Reds drop to 27-32.

Max Scherzer pitched a very strong eight innings for Washington. Scherzer allowed three hits and 15 strikeouts while pitching. Sean Doolittle allowed one hit and one strikeout in relief for Washington.

At the top of the first inning, third baseman Anthony Rendon singled to left center, Turner scored, Rendon safe at second on throwing error by left fielder Winker.

In the top of the fourth inning, Suzuki doubled to the center, Soto scored.

Finally, in the eighth inning, second baseman Brian Dozier singled to right center, Rendon and Soto scored, Dozier to second, Suzuki to third.

With a win over the Reds, the Nationals head back to D.C. to play a two game series starting on Tuesday with the Chicago White Sox at 7:05pm at Nationals Park. Pitching for the Nationals will be Stephen Strasburg.
