Nationals beat Padres 4-1: Recap 6/8/19

The Washington Nationals beat the San Diego Padres on Saturday evening at Petco Park in regular season action. The Nats record currently stands at 29-35. The Padres drop to 33-32.

Max Scherzer pitched a very strong seven innings for Washington. Scherzer allowed six hits and nine strikeouts while pitching. Tanner Rainey allowed zero hits and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the first inning, Howie Kendrick singled to the left, Eaton scored, Soto to second.

Also, in the top of the fourth, second baseman Brian Dozier homered to left center (399 feet), Kendrick scored.

In addition, third baseman Anthony Rendon singled to center, Turner scored.

With a win over the Padres, the Nationals play the final game of the series at 4:05pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Stephen Strasburg.
