Nationals beat Orioles 8-4; recap 8/28/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday evening at Nationals Park. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 74-58. The Orioles drop to 44-89.

Max Scherzer pitched a very strong four innings for Washington. Scherzer allowed six hits and eight strikeouts while pitching. Javy Guerra allowed two hits and zero strikeouts in relief for Washington. Also, Max Scherzer now has 200 strikeouts this season.

In the bottom of the first, Juan Soto tripled to the center, Parra scored and Rendon scored. Also, Cabrera singled to right, Soto scored. Additionally, catcher Kurt Suzuki homered to the left (347 feet), Cabrera scored.

At the bottom of the fifth, Asdrubal Cabrera doubled to shallow right, Rendon scored, Soto to third. Also, Suzuki doubled to shallow left, Cabrera scored and Soto scored.

With a win over the Orioles, the Nationals start a three game series with the Miami Marlins starting on Friday at 7;05pm.
