Nationals beat Marlins 10-4; recap 9/21/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins on Saturday evening at Marlins Park. Nationals’ record currently stands at 85-68. The Marlins drop to 53-101.

Stephen Strasburg pitched a very strong seven innings for Washington. Strasburg allowed three hits and six strikeouts while pitching. Wander Suero allowed zero hits and zero strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the second inning, pitcher Stephen Strasburg singled to center, catcher Yan Gomes scored.

In the top of the fifth inning, second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera singled to left center, Trea Turner scored, Anthony Rendon scored.

At the top of the eighth inning, center fielder Victor Robles singled to center, Taylor scored, Zimmerman to third. Also, in the top of the eighth, Gomes grounded into fielder’s choice to shortstop, Zimmerman scored, Robles out at second.

Additionally, in the top of the tenth pinch hitter Brian Dozier singled to left, Zimmerman scored. Robles to second. Also, Eaton singled to left, Robles scored, Eaton to second, Dozier to third.

Finally, in the top of the tenth, Juan Soto walked, Dozier scored, Rendon to second, Eaton to third. Also, Kurt Suzuki doubled to left, Eaton scored, Soto and Rendon scored.

With a win over the Marlins, the Nationals look to sweep the series today at 1:10pm. Pitching for the Nationals is Austin Voth.
