Nationals beat Giants 5-3; recap 8/6/19

The Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants Tuesday night at Oracle Park. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 60-53. The Giants drop to 56-58.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong six innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed four hits and three strikeouts while pitching. Fernando Rodney allowed one hit and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

At the top of the first, catcher Kurt Suzuki singled to right, Rendon scored, Soto to third.

In the top of the third, third baseman Anthony Rendon hit sacrifice fly to center, Trea Turner scored. Suzuki homered to left (400 feet), Parra scored.

Additionally, in the top of the fifth, Turner homered his 500th hit to left (415 feet).

With a win over the Giants, the Nationals play game three of the series today at 3:45pm. Pitching for the Nationals is Joe Ross.
