Nationals beat Dodgers 11-4: Recap 7/28/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday afternoon at Nationals Park. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 56-49. The Dodgers drop to 69-38.

Stephen Strasburg pitched a very strong seven innings for Washington, allowing two just hits and nine strikeouts.

In the bottom of the fifth, second baseman Brian Dozier hit a two-run homer to right-center (405 feet). Also, Anthony Rendon singled to center, scoring Robles.

Additionally, in the bottom of the sixth, pitcher Stephen Strasburg singled to right, Kendrick scored, Dozier to second, Parra to third. In addition, Turner grounded into fielder’s choice to first, Dozier scored and Parra scored on throwing error by first baseman Pederson, Strasburg safe at third on throwing error by first baseman Pederson.

In the bottom of the eighth, third baseman Anthony Rendon singled shallow to right, Strasburg scored, Turner to third. Lastly, left fielder Juan Soto homered to left, Rendon scored.

With a win over the Dodgers, the Nationals will play a three-game series with the Braves starting tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
