Nationals Activate Wilson Ramos off DL; Send Leon Down

Wilson Ramos The Washington Nationals announced Thursday that Wilson Ramos will be activated off the disabled list and that Sandy Leon will be sent back down to Triple-A Syracuse.

Ramos has missed 15 games since his injury to his right hamstring on June 10th after he registered his second double of that night. This was Ramos second stint on the disabled list this season and his fourth in the last two years. Ramos has only played 24 games this season due to missing the first two months of the season due to a broken bone in his hand.

Ramos will be in the starting lineup and behind the plate in tonight’s game against the Chicago Cubs. In his last rehab game, Tuesday night, he registered three hits including a three-run homerun for the High-A Potomac Nationals. So far this season Ramos is hitting .261 with only one homerun and 11 RBIs.

The Nationals will most likely remain cautious with Wilson Ramos and his propensity to get injured especially with his legs. Just after he was placed on the DL, Ramos said that he will change his leg conditioning program to avoid hamstring injuries down the line so hopefully this will result in the “Buffalo” staying healthy and in the lineup.
