Recap of three matches off the WrestleMania card

I got to attend WrestleMania for the first time this year. The experience was amazing! If I never go again, I can say I had my WrestleMania moment! It was a long but fun night. Here is my recap of three matches off the card.

Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio:

United States Title Match

This was Samoa Joe’s first WrestleMania match and Rey Mysterio’s first Mania match in years. It did not last long at all. Mysterio hit the 619 early in the match, but it was not enough. Joe picks up the win with the Coquina Clutch and retains his title, picking up his first Mania win. Good for Joe. He has accomplished a lot in his career, and now he can say he has competed on the grandest stage of them all.

Bobby Lashley vs “The Demon” Finn Balor:

Intercontinental Title Match

“The Demon” was in the house at WrestleMania. Finn Balor’s alter ego, has not been seen in a while. Lashley did not stand much of a chance here. Balor always steps up his game when he turns into “The Demon.” Lashley hit a couple of spears on Balor. One was through the ropes. Balor remained focused and hit his signature Coup de Grace for the victory. “The Demon” is now a two-time Intercontinental Champion.

Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston:

WWE Title Match

The build-up for this match was excellent. Kofi had to go through many obstacles to get to this match. Kofi had The New Day at ringside, while Daniel Bryan had Erick Rowan. The action was back and forth throughout the match. Rowen tried to play a role, but New Day was not having it. Big E and Xavier Woods took out Rowan with the Midnight Hour. Bryan hit the running knee, followed by the Lebell Lock. Kofi was able to escape and hits the Trouble in Paradise to pick up the biggest win of his career. Kofi is now a Grand Slam Champion in WWE, winning all of the major titles.

The crowd went nuts. The fireworks went off. Xavier revealed the real WWE Title for Kofi. There was no way he was going to use that eco-friendly custom title Bryan was using. What a great moment for Kingston. Eleven years of hard work has finally paid off. I was there to witness this historic moment, and it was awesome to see Kofi share it, not only with his New Day friends, but with his kids too. Everyone was pulling for him, fans and Superstars alike. I hope Kofi gets a long run with the title. Like the fans chanted Sunday, “You Deserve It!”
