Mount St. Mary’s Is Headed To The NCAA Tournament
The fourth seeded Mount St. Mary’s men’s basketball team has won the Northeast Conference Tournament and will head to the NCAA Tournament. The Mountaineers (12-10) won their semifinal at top seeded Wagner 66-60 on Saturday and beat second seeded Bryant 73-68 in the final tonight.
Damian Strong Qui had 21 in the victory while Nana Opoku added 16. Every time Bryant made a run the Mount had an answer. They lead by as many as 11 points in the second half. The last lead for Bryant was 12-10 with 11:38 left in the first half. Rebounds were 46-34 in favor of the Mountaineers. The Bulldogs were led by Charles Pride with 33 points in a losing effort.
The NCAA selection show is Sunday evening at 6:00 on CBS. That is when Mount St. Mary’s will find out who they will play in the first round. Indianapolis will host the entire men’s tournament this season,
