Morgan State Vs. Grand Canyon Preview

The Morgan State Men’s Basketball team have travelled out west in Las Vegas tonight to battle the Antelopes of Grand Canyon at 9:00 pm eastern. The Bears are hoping to stop a losing streak that has ballooned to five games, leaving coach Todd Bozeman’s team at 4-7 on the season.

Morgan is currently in 3rd place in the MEAC conference and are happy to have senior Tiwian Kendley, their leading scorer last season, back in action after missing the first 10 games of this year. Kendley announced his presence with authority by scoring 31 points against George Mason in his first game back. Defensively, the Bears have senior Phillip Carr patrolling the paint as the reigning MEAC Defensive Player of the Year.

The Bears will take on a Grand Canyon squad that is 9-4 on the year, coached by former NBA star forward Dan Majerle. The Antelopes are currently in first place in the Western Athletic Conference and they are paced by 6-4 senior guard Joshua Braun who leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points a game. Grand Canyon’s other double digit scorer is 6-3 senior guard Casey Benson(10.5 ppg). This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Both teams are solid defensively and Morgan State will have to shoot better than the 40.5% they’ve shot on the season to steal a victory. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
