Morgan State Grand Canyon Recap

Grand Canyon University kept their undefeated streak at home alive against Morgan Satate as they thumped them 100-74 last night in Las Vegas, Nevada. The loss puts coach Todd Bozeman’s squad at four games under .500 and brings the Bears losing streak to six games.

A combination of poor shooting by Morgan and torrid 3 point shooting by Grand Canyon contributed to the ugly final score. Josh Braun, the Antelopes leading scorer on the season, again led the team with 18 points but this time he was helped by 4 other players scoring double-digits. As usual, the Bears’ only had 2 players score more than 10 points; Tiwian Kendley dropped 31 and Phillip Carr put in 18 points and 12 boards. Morgan only made 4 of 13 three-pointers while shooting 30% as a team from the floor(21-70). The difference was coach Dan Majerle’s team making 13 of 29 three-pointers en route to a field goal percentage of 54%(34-56).

Morgan State closes out the year playing in California against Cal-State Northridge on December 30. If the Bears don’t start shooting better and getting more contributions from their supporting cast then the losing streak will continue to grow, a bad look as conference play approaches just on the other side of a new year.
