Maryland-Wisconsin Game Preview

Maryland gets set to take on Wisconsin Saturday.  The Terps are coming off back-to-back losses to Ohio State and Northwestern to fall to 1-2 in Big Ten play.  Max Bortenschlager is coming off his best career game so far, throwing 3 TD’s and 255 total passing yards.  DJ Moore seems to be breaking and tying records every game this season, and Ty Johnson continues to dominate the run game. Maryland’s offensive weapons will have to be big in the Wisconsin game if the Terrapins look to break the streak, but the defense really needs to step up.

Wisconsin is 3-0 in conference play and first in the Big Ten West.  The Badgers are 6-0 overall and continues to impress on both sides of the football.  Wisconsin is 5th in the nation, only behind Penn State as the highest ranked team out of the Big Ten.  This will definitely be Maryland’s toughest game of the year.  The Terps lost to UCF, when Kasim Hill went down, at #10 Ohio State, and lost to Northwestern this past week.  The bottom line is, Maryland has to start winning some games. Obviously, no win is easy in the Big Ten.  And the loss to UCF was not a bad loss as UCF has a power offense and Maryland was in survival mode after losing Hill.  This game is very important for the Terrapins however, as a win at top 5 ranked Wisconsin would really put the Terps back in a good spot.  The season is very early, so it’s no time to freak out for Terrapin fans, but this would be their second top 25 upset on the road.

Maryland will have to really come with everything they have, no slacking on offense or defense.  The only way to win games against top 10 opponents is to force them to make mistakes and capitalize each time.  Just weather the storm.

Kickoff is set for 12pm Saturday.
