Maryland vs. Jackson State Preview

Maryland is coming off a win over Bucknell just yesterday, 78-80.  Only two days off for the Terps before hosting SWAC opponent, Jackson State tomorrow at 7pm.

Jackson State is 1-2 on the season, dropping games to St. Bonaventure, who is Maryland’s next contest on Friday, and Mercer on the road.  They did grab a dub over Millsaps in a 84-46 blowout at home.

Forward Maurice Rivers and guard Jeremiah Jefferson are leading Jackson State in scoring this season, both averaging 14 points per contest.  Forward Darius Austin and guard Paris Collins are both second on the team in ppg, averaging 9.  Jackson State also has a deep rotation, which could be a problem for the Terps tomorrow evening.

Maryland is 7-0 in the all-time series.  The last time these two teams met was in 2004 when the Terrapins earned a 93-57 victory over the Tigers.

Terp Nation is also on the breakthrough to becoming a top 25 ranked team once again.  They received 20 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll and 7 in the Associated Press Top 25.

After the conclusion of the ball game tomorrow night, Maryland will take on St. Bonaventure on Friday, November 24th in the Emerald Coast Classic.  One of the last remaining tough non conference games scheduled as the Bonnies are projected from many to finish on top of the A10 Conference.  The Terps must get through Jackson State first however, as they would much rather enter that ball game 5-0, rather than coming off a loss.  That game is set for 7pm as well.
