Maryland men’s and women’s soccer remains undefeated

University of Maryland Soccer has begun again and it has started off well. Not only for the reigning Men’s Big Ten Conference champions but for the Women as well. The Men’s soccer team has started off just as we expected with a 4-0-1 start. What we didn’t expect is the start for the Women’s soccer team. The Lady Terps Finished 3-15-1 and 1-10 in the Big Ten last season, this year they have started off running.

Under second year coach Ray Leone has the Lady Terps off to a hot start this season 6-0-1 and have already doubled their win total from there 2016-2017 year. Sunday will be the first big test for the ladies as they host Rutgers, who lost in the Big Ten title last season. Rutgers also coming into College Park 6-0-1 will be a good test to see how much longer this magical start can go. With six transfers and six new freshmen coming to College Park this summer the team has gelled nicely to start off. With returners Jarena Harmon and Chelsea Jackson who were among of the best duos in the Big Ten, Leone wants to keep winning through his offense. Leone hopes that these two veterans can lead the team to their first Big Ten win and match their conference win total from last year.

Now to the Men, coming off a devastating first round exit in the NCAA tournament they hope to finish the season differently from the 15-16 campaign. This time the Terps can hopefully lean on B1G Ten Defensive player of the week goalie, Dayne St. Clair. Last Friday the top two teams in the B1G Ten faced off and the team was led by St. Clair stellar play. In 0-0 draw he made career high six saves and kept giving Maryland chances to win the game. With that St. Clair went into Tuesday game feeling himself more than ever.

Without hesitation St.Clair came out and once again helped the team to another victor. With struggling Rutgers coming in the Terps put together a great game from start to finish. Gordon Wild led the scoring charge by adding two goals making that five total on the year. St. Clair held his opponent scoreless for the fourth time this semester.

With that brings an amazing note on the The University of Maryland’s soccer program. They are the only program in Division 1 that is undefeated
