Maryland/Duke Lacrosse, 2:30pm Today

The Maryland Terrapins will face rival*, Duke Blue Devils, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts today for NCAA Final Four play.

To get here, the Terrapins outperformed the Cornell Big Red on Sunday May 20 at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. Terp’s Bubba Fairman and Jared Bernhardt had three goals each, of the 13 total. One of Fairman’s goals came from playing man-up, in the third quarter; Maryland’s only man-up opportunity. Cornell had more shots, 38-30, but the Terrapins had more shots on goal, 16-20. Goalie Dan Morris had eight saves.

In today’s game, the Terps face Duke for the first time since 2014. At the conclusion of the 2014 season, Maryland Lacrosse joined the Big Ten Conference. The last game, March 1st, 2014, Maryland took the win, 10-6. Duke was ranked #1 while Maryland sat two seeds behind. Today, the rankings are reversed: Maryland sits as #1, while Duke is in at #3.

Winner of this game will face the winner of the 12pm game, Yale Bulldogs versus Albany Great Danes. The championship game will be played on Monday, at Gillette Stadium.

*Though no longer conference rivals, the two continue to be rivals through legacy.
