Maryland Division III Colleges In Four NCAA Tournaments

VARIOUS LOCATIONS – On Monday, the NCAA unveiled their brackets for four Division III tournaments (men’s soccer, women’s field hockey, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball) and the state of Maryland is represented in all four of them.  Here’s the breakdown with school’s name, their opponent and the day/time of the match:

NCAA DIVISION III MEN’S SOCCER TOURNAMENT

In the 62-team field, the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (14-1-3) made it in with at-large bid. They will play the first-round game against DeSales (12-2-6) at Rowan Soccer Field in Glassboro, New Jersey on Saturday, November 11th at 6:30 PM.

NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

In the 16-team field, the Salisbury Sea Gulls (12-4) received one of the four first-round byes and will host a second-round game on Saturday, November 11th at 2:00 PM.  Their opponent will be the winner of the first-round match between Trinity (Conn.) (12-6) and Gwynedd Mercy (17-3).  That game is on Wednesday, November 8th at 5:00 PM.

NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S SOCCER TOURNAMENT

In the 64- team field, two schools received at-large bids (including one that I had incorrectly reported that their season was over).

The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (15-2-3) will host a first-round game against Staten Island (13-5-1) at Homewood Field in Baltimore on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 AM.

The McDaniel Green Terror (12-5-2) season WILL continue as they travel to play Lynchburg (18-3-0) at Lions Stadium in Ewing, New Jersey on Saturday, November 11th at 7:30 PM.

NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

In the 64-team field, two schools received automatic bids via winning conference tournaments and could result in an interesting second-round match if both win their first-round games.

The Stevenson Mustangs (32-1) was rewarded with hosting first and second round games on their home court, Owings Mills Gym in Owings Mills, Maryland.  They will play Hunter (27-4) on Friday, November 10th at 8:00 PM.

In the match right before the Mustangs take the court, The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (24-3) will play Kean (28-10) at 5:30 PM.

Should the Mustangs and the Blue Jays both win, they will play for a spot in the third round and will be a re-match of their regular season meeting that was played at Owings Mills Gym on October 19th.  Stevenson defeated Johns Hopkins three sets to one set that night, 25-17; 28-26; 25-27; 25-21.
