Markakis agrees with Braves
The Baltimore Orioles have lost one of their fan favorites and all time great outfielders as Nick Markakis has agreed to terms with the Atlanta Braves, according to multiple reports. Markakis spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Orioles.
The deal for Markakis is reportedly worth $44 million over four years. Many fans think that the deal is too much for Markakis who is over 30 and has had declining stats. Markakis has had his average and power numbers declining and will play in a pitchers friendly ballpark.
Markakis is from Georgia but made his home in Baltimore, he was very active in the Baltimore community but will now get to go back home. Markakis is a contact hitter and hit leadoff for the in 2014.
Markakis will surely be missed in Birdland.
