Machado to Move From 3B to SS
According to Showalter at todays FanFest, Machado will begin the season playing SS and move Tim Beckham to 3B.
With free-agency looming Manny Machado started to become available in trade talks and becuase of that Machado as well as the Orioles believed not only could he be a top 3B in the MLB but SS as well. Instead of seeing Machado playing else where Duquette said, “that he expects Machado to be part of the team in 2018”.
Leading to Buch Showalter answering a question at the teams FanFest that two-time Gold Glover at 3B will play SS for the Birds in 2018. With J.J. Hardy hanging up the cleats this offseason left a whole at SS that July acquisition Tim Beckham looked to fill. Instead Beckham will move to 3B in 2018.

As a Orioles fan I am pumped for this move simply becuase of the electric double plays that will be made. With Schoop (2B) and Manny (SS) staying loose in the dugout look for them to bring some of that on the field. This will bring some swagger back to Baltimore that we’ve missed since Markakis and Johns were balling together.
