Lamar Jackson Named AFC Offensive Player of the Month

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is off to one of his best starts since entering the league in 2018. His strong September did not go unnoticed as Jackson was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month.

Through three games Jackson leads all quarterbacks with 10 touchdown passes while also leading all quarterbacks with a passer rating of 119.0. Tua Tagovailoa is the next closest in passer rating currently with a rating of 117.8. Jackson’s 78.4 QBR ranks him second, while his 8.5 yards per pass attempt ranks him third, his highest yards per pass average of his career thus far.

Jacksons impressive September had some memorable highlights. Two of which came in the same game with Jackson rushing for a 79-yard touchdown, as well as throwing for a 75-yard touchdown. Both touchdowns currently remain as the longest rushing and passing scores this season.

Jackson appears to be the front runner thus far to earn his second career MVP award, and while his passing through three games has greatly improved. Jackson is still the most dangerous player in the NFL for his ability to not only be among the leagues best passers, but also one of the best rushers in the NFL. Jackson has rushed for 243 yards and two touchdowns on just 26 carries. While averaging 9.3 yards per carry, good for first in the NFL. Jackson’s 81 rushing yards per game ranks him fifth overall among all rushers.

Jackson will look to build off his strong September and carry that momentum into October, as the Ravens battle the Buffalo Bills this Sunday at 1 P.M.
