Lacrosse Preview: Bucknell (1-3) at Navy (2-1)

Navy welcomes the Bison of Bucknell to Annapolis on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm ET for men’s lacrosse action. The Midshipmen are 2-1 on the season, Bucknell is 1-3. Both schools will be opening up their Patriot League schedules this weekend.

Coming off a 16-13 loss to #11 Ohio State in their last game, Bucknell will be trying to break their two-game losing streak. Despite falling behind early to the Buckeyes on Saturday, the Bison staged a furious 8-1 scoring drive late. The comeback fell short as the game clock ran out.

On offense, Bucknell is led by junior attackman, Will Yorke. He leads the Bison in scoring this season with 13 points on 12 goals and one assist. On the other side of the ball, Conor Shears, a junior defenseman, has seven caused turnovers this year. Christian Klipstein, an All-Patriot League goalkeeper, owns a 51.7 save percentage.

Navy is coming off their first defeat of the season, a 14-9 loss to then #3-ranked Maryland. The Mids’ senior midfielder, Ryan Wade, continues to hold the 12th-longest scoring streak in the country at 27 games. Meanwhile, Greyson Torain, also a senior midfielder for Navy, was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second-straight year. The annual award is presented at the end of the season to the nation’s top lacrosse player.

Looking ahead, Bucknell will next face Holy Cross on March 9th. Navy takes on Princeton Tuesday afternoon. (For a full look at Navy’s lacrosse schedule, please, click here.)
