Ktown Soccer Introduction
Thanks for tuning in to the soccer portion of the Maryland Sports Blog.My name is Kevin L. Taylor and to say that the sport of soccer is my passion would be an understatement.
After God, family, and my closest friends (like Brian the owner of the website) comes my deep love for soccer. This, however was not always the case. Growing up on the west side of Baltimore, I literally had no idea that the sport of soccer existed. The reality and demographics of growing up in Park Heights meant it was a choice between the Ravens on WJZ or the Orioles on Fox 45.
My sports world took a turn for the unexpected when I was asked to join a soccer team as their sweeper after never kicking a soccer ball in my life. That season we went undefeated all the way until the championship game where we lost by one, the opposing team was physical.
Despite that loss, it was on that field that my passion for the sport changed from what felt like an insatiable teenage thirst to a lifelong hunger that still rumbles today. It is because of that craving that I have chosen to begin blogging about the world of soccer- as I am sure that same feeling has drawn some of you to this blog today. It is my hope in posting on this blog that I can bring my past and present experiences both on-and-off the field to discuss, share and analyze the latest news and developments going on in the world of soccer.
Just like that feeling of belonging a team builds during a season, my goal is that you as readers will bring your own experiences and thoughts to these posts. In the same way that this sport has aided me in overcoming obstacles and mental blocks. It is my hope that we can challenge each other, promote each others ideas, and continue to deepen our shared passion for the sport of soccer.
