Where Is Kirk Cousins Next Home?

After Washington’s stunning move to acquire QB Alex Smith from Kansas City, Washington no longer needs QB Kirk Cousins making him eligible for the 2018 free agency. Here are some of the teams that would best suit Cousins.

Cleveland Browns

Cousins loves himself some money, and if there is one thing the Browns have its cold hard cash. The Browns have over $110 million in available cap space and are not happy with their current quarterback DeShone Kizer. But would Kirk Cousins really want to play for a team that has one win in the past two seasons? If Cousins were to go to Cleveland expect him to be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL history.

Denver Broncos

There is no question that the Broncos biggest concern is a quarterback after a terrible quarterback situation during the 2017 season. Realistically the Broncos are an average quarterback away from being Superbowl contenders again. The only problem for the Broncos is that they only have $25.9 million in available cap space which means John Elway would have to make some moves to be able to pay Cousins.

New York Jets

The Jets will be willing to “pay whatever it takes” to get Cousins, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. The Jets have about $81 million in cap space for 2018, but that number will approach $100 million once they cut some veterans. Jets will be looking for Cousins to end their 8 years without playing in a playoff game. Expect Cousins to have a massive pay day if the Jets decide offer Cousins.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals $20 million salary cap situation is the only thing that would keep Cousins out of Arizona. After Carson Palmer retired after the 2017 season, the Cardinals need a quarterback to give WR Larry Fitzgerald one last chance for a Superbowl victory and they believe Cousins can be the guy to do that.
