Jonathan Schoop out with elbow bursitis

According to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com Jonathan Schoop could miss a few spring training games while dealing with elbow bursitis.  Schoop had his left elbow drained to deal with the issue, which is thought to be minor and shouldn’t cause him to miss much time. Expect him to be back well before the start of the season.

Schoop agreed to an $8.5 million deal earlier this month to avoid arbitration. Jon was a first-time All-Star in 2017, batting a .293 average with 32 homers and 105 RBIs. He played in 160 games in 2017 and played in all 162 in the 2016 season. He has a .264 career batting average with 89 homers and 272 RBIs. Schoop is eligible for free agency after the 2019 season.
