The National Media has been in love with Johnny Manziel, aka “Johnny Football”, for years and I have been saying all along that I think he is going to be a huge bust at the NFL level. Well, during the Washington Redskins/Cleveland Browns game on Monday Night Football, Manziel proved that he does not have the class or maturity to be an NFL quarterback. Manziel gave the entire FedEx Field crowd the middle finger during just his second preseason game. There must be a problem with the water in Cleveland since earlier in the offseason a Browns fan urinated on Art Modell’s grave.
I have written before that Manziel needs to grow up. While ESPN may have as one of their headlines that Manziel threw a touchdown pass, the fact that Manziel showed an obscene sign on National TV is getting overlooked. Millions of children are watching and seeing what Manziel did and he should at least be fined for it.
I don’t know what prompted him to flip the middle finger in Landover, Maryland but it was probably a few fans heckling him. If Manziel cannot handle the Redskins fans heckling him then he is in for a rude awakening when he plays the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. Manziel’s final numbers Monday night weren’t even that impressive. He completed 7 out of 16 passes for just 65 yards and a touchdown putting his quarterback rating at just 76.3.
Manziel has some major growing up to do before he can be a successful NFL quarterback. Not only did he have an offseason filled with partying but he’s also admitted to arriving late to practices. And now he is flipping the bird on ESPN.
