Is Jimmy Smith finally going to the Pro Bowl?

If you ask a Ravens fan they will tell you Jimmy Smith’s first pro bowl appearance is at least 3 years overdue. Smith’s 2014 season was a stellar one, although it was cut short by injury and was primarily the reason the defense couldn’t seal the deal against the Patriots after securing two 14 point leads in the AFC divisional round. This year he is healthy and better than ever. Pro football focus has Smith rated as the 5th best corner in the league and he led all corners with the lowest passer rating in coverage with a 27.9 rating.

All signs point towards Jimmy Smith making his first pro bowl barring a injury or a drastic drop off in performance. In the AFC, he is only ranked behind Jalen Ramsey and Jason McCourty in cornerback rankings. I personally would give him the nod over McCourty . Smith has a chance to solidify his spot in the pro bowl with tests coming against DeAndre Hopkins, Golden Tate, Antonio Brown, and AJ Green. If he can hold his own against those elite receivers, expect Smith to be a starter in this year’s pro bowl.
