IMPACT Wrestling Recap 8/2/18

Austin Aries is the Worst

Austin Aries showed once again why he is the best character in IMPACT Wrestling. He was scheduled for a title match with Dustin Cameron, the student of Anthony Carelli. He did not take the match seriously in any capacity, coming to the ring in a polo shirt and jeans. He eventually took it to Cameron, hitting him with a brain buster. Before he could get the pin, Aries pulled Cameron off the mat at the count of two to deliver another brain buster, but Carelli threw in the towel before he could do too much damage. Afterwards, Aries got in Carelli’s face but receiving a low blow for his troubles. When Aries got up to the top of the ramp, Eddie Edwards then attacked him from behind with a kendo stick, one week before their championship match on IMPACT. Areis’s actions showed why he is such a great heel and continues to be a great champion for the IMPACT brand.

The Undead Bridesmaids Aren’t Enough

Su Yung and one of her undead bridesmaids took on Allie and Kiera Hogan in a tag team match. Unfortunately, the match did not exactly live up to what it could have been. The undead bridesmaids got involved, but were quickly disposed of. Allie eventually got the pin and earned a huge victory over the Knockouts champ. However, Tessa Blanchard came out and hit Allie with her hammerlock DDT to send a message that she should be the one getting consideration for a title match.

oVe Suffers Setback Loss

Fenix and Pentagon Jr defeated oVe in a hotly contested tag team match. This seemed to be the beginning of the end of the feud with Sami Callihan and Pentagon Jr. However, the match was great. oVe seems to finally be coming into their own, and Fenix and Pentagon were incredible as always. the two teams do not seem to have a direction to go in as far as new feuds go, but stay tuned!

LAX Fires Back at the OGz

The OGz had a squash match with a group of jobbers, but that wasn’t the story of their night. LAX came out and attacked the OGz, making a statement and keeping the fire going in this bitter rivalry. LAX did not take back their stolen titles, but it gives them another reason to come back out and give the OGz another beating. The feud could be booked a bit better, and hopefully Homicide and Hernandez gain some more personality while this feud continues to boil.
