Ilya Samsonov Called Up to Washington Capitals
It has been reported that Washington Capitals prospect left on a flight headed to Denver, Colorado last night according to Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan.
The Washington Capitals play the Colorado Avalanche tonight, and Braden Holtby was a late scratch and was listed on the IR with a lower-body injury on Wednesday.
Does this mean Capitals fans could see a sneak peak of the future of the Capitals seeing Samsonov sometime soon?
Who knows, but Phoenix Copley is getting his third start in a row tonight. The Capitals schedule for next week is Montreal Monday, Chicago at home Wednesday and a back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday against Detroit and the New York Rangers.
With that being said and not knowing how long Holtby will be our for could the Capitals potentially could use Samsonov in one of the back-to-back games next weekend. My guess if Holtby is still hurt by next weekend that Ilya starts the Friday game against Detroit.
