Hershey Bears recall veteran defenseman Hughes, reassign Geiger to SC

In a defensive swap the Hershey Bears recalled rugged defenseman Tommy Hughes who was playing in the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) where he was playing for the Hershey Bears affiliate South Carolina Stingrays. Hughes has been battling an injury which caused Tommy to be assigned to the Stingrays and not make the Bears out of camp. In six games with the Stingrays Hughes has one assist and four penalty minutes, for a plus one rating so far. Hughes is a veteran D-Man in the AHL playing parts of four season with the Hartford Wolfpack. in two hundred and twenty six games for the Wolf Pack Hughes accumulated five goals and twenty five assists, along with one hundred and forty three penalty minutes.

Paul Geiger played four games with the Bears so far this season. In those four games he had one assist but posted a -4 plus minus averaging a goal against per game on the ice. Before playing with the Bears in the AHL this season he played of parts of two other seasons in the AHL with the Albany Devils and the Rochester Americans. In those two seasons Paul played  fifty eight games accumulating four goals and seven assists. Paul will now return back to the South Carolina Stingrays where he has already played in four games with one goal and one assist along with two penalty minutes.

Hershey returns to the Giant Center tomorrow night for a 7PM matchup with the Springfield Thunderbirds. Come out and cheer on the Hershey Bears as they have won five of their last seven games, and looking hungry for more before Thanksgiving.
