Hershey Bears forward Chris Bourque named to the USA men’s Olympic hockey team

What a way to start off the new year for Hershey Bears forward Chris Bourque! New Years day, USA Hockey announced that forward Chris Bourque had been named to the U.S. Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. Chris is currently the American Hockey League’s leading scorer with 39 points (11 goals, 28 assists) in 35 games this season. He is also the AHL’s career scoring leader among active players with 678 points.

Bourque was not the only member of the AHL to make the USA team, as Milwaukee Admirals forward Bobby Butler and San Jose Barracuda forward John McCarthy have also been named to the 2018 U.S. Olympic men’s ice hockey team.

Chris Bourque was not the only player with Hershey Bear ties to be named to the team. Forward Ryan Stoa, who played for the Bears from 2012 to 2014 also was named to the team. Ryan played one hundred and thirteen games for the Bears, recording twenty seven goals and thirty two assists.

According to THEAHL.com The team USA roster will feature seventeen players with AHL experience, including seven former AHL All-Stars and two AHL MVP’s in Bourque, and Brian O’Niell.
