Gray Leads North Carolina To A Win At Johns Hopkins

When Chris Gray transferred to North Carolina the college lacrosse world took notice. Today he showed why. Gray had 8 goals and 1 assist to lead North Carolina to a 17-10 win before 2,749 at Homewood Field. The Tar Heels took advantage of Hopkins penalties by going 5 of 7 on extra man.

Carolina used a 4-1 advantage in the second quarter to gain separation and never looked back. Caton Johnson had 10 saves for the Heels who also got 4 point games from Tanner Cook (3g, 1A), Nicky Solomon (1G, 3A), and Alex Trippi (1G, 3A). Shots finished 48-42 Carolina and the Heels won ground balls 29-21. UNC moves to 4-0 with a trip to Denver ahead next Sunday

Cole Williams had 3 goals for a Hopkins offense which is struggling while Joey Epstein comes back from a knee injury. He moved a lot better today and scored his first goal but still isn’t 100%. The win over a struggling Towson team seems like a lifetime ago for 1-2 Hopkins. A trip to Princeton who beat Virginia today awaits next Saturday. Michael Sowers leads the Tigers. He had 7 goals and 15 assists this week including 4 and 4 in today’s win in Charlottesville.
