Geno Stone Re-Signs With Ravens

Safety Geno Stone is returning to Baltimore as he signed his exclusive rights tender Thursday. Stone was drafted in the seventh-round by the Ravens in 2020 out of Iowa, and was considered by many draft experts to be a steal for the Ravens.

Stone had a poor rookie season only playing in two games as he moved between the practice squad and the active roster. Stone would be waived by the Ravens in December of 2020 and would be claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans. Stone would never play a game for the Texans as he would later be waived by the team.

Stone would return to the Ravens for the 2021 season on a one-year deal. It was a good signing for both Stone and the Ravens as 2021 would go on to be Stone’s most successful season as a pro. In 15 games Stone had one pass defensed, 21 total tackles, and he would also add his first career interception coming against Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers in the last game of the season. Stone started in two games in 2021 and showed his playmaking ability when given the opportunity to see the field.

While Stone likely will not be a starter in place of veteran strong safety Chuck Clark, he adds secondary depth that the Ravens desperately need.
