Gausman to start Wednesday versus the Tigers
The Baltimore Orioles will start Kevin Gausman against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, according to Roch Kobatko. This will be Gausman’s season debut for the Orioles and a roster move will have to be made before the start. This is a surprising move because Gausman is still on a pitch count and has only had one start since having to go on the minor league disabled list with pneumonia.
In his starts this season Gausman has pitched very well for triple-A Norfolk. Gausman has an 0 and 1 record with a 2.08 era, the problem is the Orioles are limiting his pitch count and he has not gone deep into games.
Last season for the Orioles Gausman had a three and five record and a 5.66 era, Gausman started five games and pitched out of the bullpen.
It looks like Miguel Gonzalez will be pitching out of the bullpen and Chen is starting on Thursday.
Here is Kubatko’s tweet about Gausman.
