Game preview: #4 Maryland vs #13 Penn State

For the first time in over a year, the Maryland Terrapins men’s lacrosse team is heading on a road trip as they travel to Happy Valley to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Terps come into the game 1-0 after destroying the Michigan Wolverines last Saturday 20-9. The 20 goals were enough for the most in a conference game in 38 years. Penn State on the other hand, really struggled in their season opener, losing to Rutgers 11-9. The game was close the whole time with neither team ever leading by more than two but the Scarlett Knights ended up being too much to handle for Penn State in the end. The Nittany Lions sure had the talent and ability to have beaten Rutgers but things just didn’t go the way that they hoped.

This week Penn State hopes to change course and pull off the upset against the Terps while Maryland will hope to continue their firepower that we saw last week. Penn State is not at all lacking in the talent department but do they have enough to keep up with Maryland? That is the question that everyone will be asking Friday night. I think the answer is no. Maryland has so much talent and skill on all sides of the ball that I think will just be too much for Penn State to handle. I have the Terps winning 16-12.

The game will be broadcasted on BTN, Friday, February 26th at 5:30pm. Capitals play-by-play broadcaster Joe Beninati will be on the call. Follow along on the main Twitter @MDSportsblog for updates throughout the game.
