Former Terrapin Becoming NFL Star
Yannick Ngakoue for the Jacksonsville Jaguars has become a force on the defensive side of the football. Ngakoue is coming off 2.5 sacks in the Jags 27-0 win over Indianapolis last week. The former Terrapin is making his name well known as one of the most fierce players on defense in the NFL.
Ngakoue is tied for first in the NFL in forced fumbles with 3 on the season. He is also tied for 8th in the league with 6.5 sacks.
Ngakoue was one of Maryland’s leaders on defense from 2013-15 and shined enough to make it to the pros. He tallied up 21 total sacks in his three seasons at Maryland, and 32 tackles for a loss. Ngakoue was taken by the Jaguars at the 69th pick in the third round in the 2016 NFL Draft. As a rookie, the young defensive end was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. In his short career, he has already gotten 14.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, and 1 interception.
Yannick Ngakoue has become a force for the Jaguars and one of the best defensive ends in football. He was a big reason as to why Maryland’s defense got back on track in his time with the Terrapins, and is a definite factor with the success of the Jacksonville defense.
