ESPN Has A Blog Dedicated to Derek Jeter

As if you haven’t already had enough of the Derek Jeter farewell tour, ESPN has added a blog called “The Jeet Index. ” Personally I think that this concept of a farewell tour is stupid (unless of course it’s the Iron Man’s), but ESPN is just making it worse. At least the blog is only on the ESPN New York site.

Sure, Jeter WAS a great player and is a baseball icon, but right now he is an aging player on the 19th hole of mini golf desperately trying for that free game. The Yankees don’t even look like they are going to be that great this year either.

So by this point you’re probably wondering what’s on this blog. So am I. From what I can tell it has a map of where Jeter will play this year, and list of Jeters best this and that. What’s gonna happen when Jeter inevitably gets hurt. “Jeter Makes Funny Face in Dugout: top 10 Jeter faces.” It’s just ridiculous.

As for the concept of the farewell tour. Why am I supposed to celebrate the career of a player that has torn up my favorite team. “Hey remember that Maier play. That was great. Thanks for that, here’s a sculpture of you.” It just doesn’t make sense to me.

It’s not like I needed more reasons to not watch ESPN, but I sure got one here.
