El Baysox de Bowie estará los “Cangrejos Fantasmas de Chesapeake” en 2018
Today Minor League Baseball announced 33 teams new alter egos for the Es Divertido Ser Un Fan initiative. One of which is our local Bowie Baysox, Class AA for the Baltimore Orioles.
The initiative is to reach out to Spanish-speaking baseball fans, to bring them out to games.
The Bowie Baysox are located in Prince George’s county where 17.8% of the population is Hispanic or Latino (source: US Census Bureau, 2016), and 23.3% of homes speak a different language other than English (US Census Bereau, 2016).
The Baysox chose the Chesapeake Bay indigenous creature “Ghost Crab” because of the uniqueness and it translated well; say “hello” to Cangrejos Fantasmas de Chesapeake. 
The team will debut the unique uniforms on May 5 against the Akron Rubber Ducks, for Cinco de Mayo.
Four special nights have been arranged to promote the initiative:
- Thursday, June 28 @ 7:05 pm: World Cup Party/Fiesta COPA MUNDIAL with post-game Fireworks
- Friday, July 6 @ 7:05 pm: Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) & Halloween In July with post-game Fireworks presented by Omegacor Technologies
- Tuesday, July 24 @ 7:05 pm: Latin Fiesta Night/Noche de fiesta Latina with pre-game Baysox LIVE! Happy Hour featuring $2.00 draft beers, live music & more
- Saturday, September 1 @ 6:35 pm: Hispanic Heritage Night/ La noche de la Herencia Hispana featuring the final post-game Fireworks spectacular of the season

La Liga de Béisbol Menor anunció hoy que 33 equipos tendrán álter egos esta temporada como una parte de Es Divertido Ser Un Fan iniciativa. El equipo local, Baysox de Bowie (Clase AA de los Orioles de Baltimore) es un de los 33.
Bowie es en Prince George´s County, donde 17.8% de la población es hispano o latino, y 23.3% de las casas hablan una idioma que no es ingles.
El Baysox eligió la criatura indígena (de la Chesapeake) cangrejo fantasma como su álter ego.
El primer noche para los uniformes nuevos estará Cinco de Mayo, contra Akron Rubber Ducks.
Estará cuatro noches celebrando las Cangrejos Fantasmas de Chesapeake:
- jueves, 28 de junio a 7:05 por la noche: Fiesta COPA MUNDIAL con fuegos artificiales después el juego
- viernes, 6 de julio a 7:05 por la noche: Día de los Muertos & Halloween en julio con fuegos artificiales promovía por Omegacor Technologies
- martes, 24 de julio a 7:05 por la noche: Noche de fiesta Latina con Baysox EN VIVO! Hora Feliz antes el juego incluyendo $2 cervezas, música en vivo, y muchas mas.
- sábado, primer de septiembre a 6:35 por la noche: La noche de la Herencia Hispana con los finales fuegos artificiales espectacular de la temporada.
