Edgmer Escalona Out For Three Weeks
Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports that Orioles right-handed pitcher, Edgmer Escalona is suffering from inflammation in his right shoulder. Escalona is due to miss at least three weeks due to the injury.
The Orioles acquired Escalona by way of free agency via one-year deal signed in November of 2013. He has no options remaining so if he were to make the team, he couldn’t get sent back to the minors without clearing waivers. Since his chances of making the team were small to begin with, this injury really sets him back. As Encina mentions, Escalona could make his return in the final week of exhibition play in spring training.
In his lone appearance this spring, the right-hander allowed five earned runs with four hits in one inning of work.
